Can I pray Fajr immediately after Adhan at home

Adhan is given 5 times a day to go to the mosque and pray with the congregation. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave special importance and emphasis to going to the mosque and praying in congregation after hearing the adhan. But after hearing the adhan, without going to the mosque without reason, I pray at home, will it be performed? Especially Fajr prayer.

Short answer

Yes, if you are a woman, the answer is : I Can pray Fajr immediately after Adhan at home. Not only Fajr but any other prayer can be offered after Adhan. Other prayers, including the Fajr prayer, are permissible as soon as their time begins. This is because prayer is obligatory on people as soon as the time of each prayer begins, with the possibility of delaying it. However, there are certain mustahab times for each prayer.

For example: Zuhr prayer, in winter (after the start of time) is mustahab. And it is mustahab to perform it late during the summer (after cooling, i.e. at its last time, after the original shadow of every object has doubled). Likewise, other prayers and mustahab times are described, which are proven by various hadiths.

But the men will go to the mosque and pray with the congregation. In the case of obligatory prayers, the Shariah provision for men is to perform the five daily prayers in the mosque with the congregation.

It is not permissible to leave the congregation of the mosque without any Shariah reason. If there is no mosque nearby, try not to pray alone; Rather, two or four people will gather together. And in order to protect the veil, women should pray at home, not in congregation.

A warning to pray at home after the adhan

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Whoever refrains from offering Salah in congregation without any excuse (without reason) despite hearing the call to prayer of the muezzin; His prayer elsewhere (alone) will not be accepted. This instruction is for obligatory prayers. Because the congregation is very important for obligatory prayers.

Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam gave special importance to performing obligatory prayers in mosques. Even after hearing the adhan, if you pray alone without going to the mosque, it will not be performed.

There are several narrations in the hadith:

Ibn Abbas Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Whoever refrains from praying in congregation without any excuse (without reason) despite hearing the call of the muezzin; His prayer elsewhere (alone) will not be accepted. Sahaba Keram asked, what is Ojr? Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Fear or illness is disease.” (Abu Dawud)

Abdullah Ibn Abbas Radiyallahu Anhu also narrated that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, ‘Whoever does not attend the mosque after hearing the Adhan; But he has no weight. Then he will not pray at all. (Bayhaqi)

When prayer can be offered at home

Can you pray Fajr immediately after Adhan at home, but with conditions. For example, in the above hadith, fear and illness are mentioned as reasons for abstaining from congregation. So if there is no fear, calamity or illness, then after hearing the call to prayer by the muezzin, going to the mosque and praying in congregation is the direction of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.

Moreover, according to the mentioned two hadiths, it will not be accepted or pure if prayer is not offered in congregation, at least it means that praying in congregation is wajib or necessary. For that reason, if there are three or more people present when it is time for prayer somewhere; However, they must perform the prayer at that time in congregation. This is the direction of the hadith. And the guidance of hadith usually means to be wajib.

The importance of going to the mosque after the Adhan

How important it is to pray in congregation is proven from the guidance of the blind companion Ibnu Umm Maktoum to attend congregation. It has been mentioned in the hadith-

Ibn Umm Maktum Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, he asked the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, – ‘O Messenger of God! I am blind; My house is also far away (from the mosque). I also have a guide, but he is not loyal to me. Is it permissible for me to pray at home in this situation?

Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, ‘Can you hear the call to prayer? Ibn Umm Maktum said, ‘Yes’, he (the Prophet) said, then I do not see any possibility of permission for you (to pray at home).” (Abu Dawud)

Unfortunate are those who pray at home after the adhan

On the authority of Ibn Umm Maktum Radiyallahu Anhu, he said, O Messenger of Allah, there are many insects and ferocious animals in Madinah (there is a fear of being attacked by them, is it necessary to attend the mosque in such a situation?). The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Do you hear ‘Hayya Alas-Salah and Haiyya Alal-Falah’?” (If he hears) he will certainly come to the congregation.’ (Abu Dawud)

Therefore, a believing Muslim should, if there is no excuse, go to the mosque and pray after hearing the muezzin’s adhan. Giving utmost importance to the congregation in performing obligatory prayers. Because the importance of participation in Jamaat is proven from this hadith-

Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud Radiyallahu Anhu narrates, he said, you should pay particular attention to the five daily prayers with the Adhan. Because these five times prayer is the path of guidance. Almighty Allah has determined this path of guidance for His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Our (general) idea-

Those who pray at home for no reason are hypocrites

“No one can be absent from the Jamaat except a clear hypocrite. We have seen among us people who (due to weakness and illness) would go (to the mosque) on two people (shoulders) and would be made to stand in the (prayer) queue.’

There is none of you who does not have a mosque (place of prayer) in his house. If you do the (obligatory) prayer at home instead of coming to the mosque, then you have rejected the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). And if you abandon the Sunnah of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, you will surely be involved in disbelief.

In the famous book of hadith, Muslim narrated – “(to leave the Prophet’s Sunnah means) you will surely go astray”.
