Dua after Fajr prayer

We know there is a dua after the fajr prayer. The beloved Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “There are some duas at the end of every obligatory prayer, the person who recites or uses them is never harmed.” (Sahih Muslim, 1237)

Fajr prayer 5 times is one time of obligatory prayer. Fajr prayer has more importance and merit than the other four times. Many hadiths have been narrated about the rewards and virtues of Fajr prayer. And after Fajr, there are meritorious duas and deeds. By reading this the believer can get many benefits.

Which Dua is best beneficial after the Fajr prayer?

Dua prescribed by the Sunnah after the Fajr prayer is very beneficial. In this chapter, we are sequentially mentioning all the duas mentioned in the hadith to be recited after the Fajr prayer.

Reciting Ayatul Kursi

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after every obligatory prayer, there will be no obstacle to his entry into Paradise except death.” (Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 2395)

Ayatul Kursi (Arabic):


اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Pronunciation: Allahu La Ilaha Illa Huwal Hayyul Qayyum, La Ta’Khujuhu Sinatuon Wala Naum. Lahu ma fis samawati wama fil ardi, maan jallaji yashfau indahu illa bi ijinhi. Ya’lamu ma baina aidihim wama khalfahum, wala yuhituna bishaiyim min ilimhi illa bima sha-a. Wasia Kursiyuhus Samawati Wal Arda, Wala Yaudhu Hifjuhuma, Wahuwal Aliyul Azim. (Surah Baqarah, verse: 255)

Prayer for God’s pleasure

Arabic:

رَضِيتُ باللهِ رَبَّاً، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِيناً، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيَّاً

Pronunciation: Rajitu billahi rabbaon wabil islami dnaoon wabi muhammadin nabiyyah.

Meaning: I am satisfied with Allah as Lord, Islam as God and Muhammad (PBUH) as Prophet.

Recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) mentioned in the hadith that ‘If one recites the following Istighfar morning and evening with firm belief and dies on that day or night, he will enter Jannat. (Bukhari, Hadith: 6306)

Arabic:


اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي، إِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Pronunciation : Allahumma Anta Rabbi, La Ilaha Illa Anta, Khalaktani, Wa Ana Abduka, Wa Ana Ala Ahidka Wa Wa’dika Mastata’tu, Auzu Bika Min Sharri Ma Sana’tu, Abuu Laka Bini’matika Alaiya, Wa Abuu Bijambi Fagfirli Fainahu La Yagifaruz Junuba Illa Anta.

Meaning: O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me. And I am your slave. I stand by your promise as much as possible and I seek refuge from the evil of my deeds. I acknowledge your grace upon me and I confess my sin again. So, forgive me because no one can forgive sins except you.

Prayer for deliverance from hell

In the hadith, “Whoever recites the following dua seven times after Fajr and Maghrib and dies on that day or night, he will be released from Hell.” (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 5079)

The prayer (Arabic) is-

اللهم أجرني من النار

Pronunciation: Allahumma Ajirni Minnan Nar.

Meaning: O Allah! Deliver me from hell.

Prayer for protection from disease

Prophet (PBUH) used to recite the following dua for protection from diseases. (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 1554)

Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ وَالْجُنُونِ وَالْجُذَامِ وَمِنْ سَيِّئِ الأَسْقَامِ

Dua: Allahumma inni aujubika minal barasi, wal jununi, wal juzami, wa min sayyil askam.’ Meaning—O Allah! I seek refuge in you from white, madness, leprosy and all incurable diseases.

Reading Surah Yasin

Many virtues of reciting Surah Yasin are mentioned in the hadith. Every morning we can recite Surah Yasin.

Special Dua after Fajr

Masnoon Dua and Zikr after Fajr Prayer

After the obligatory prayer, Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is used to recite the following zikr and dua. These are important Sunnahs for any Muslim. You can recite this dua, especially after the Fajr prayer.

After returning the salam first –

  • 3 times: ‘Astagfirullah’

Meaning: I seek forgiveness from Allah.

Tasbeeh after Fajr

  • 1 time:

اللّهُـمَّ أَنْـتَ السَّلامُ ، وَمِـنْكَ السَّلام ، تَبارَكْتَ يا ذا الجَـلالِ وَالإِكْـرام

Pronunciation: Allahumma Antas Salam, Wa Minkas Salam, Taba-Raqta Ya Jal Jala-Li Wal Ikram.

Meaning: O Allah, your blessed name is Salam. You are the peacemaker. you are benevolent You are worthy of glory and dignity.

  • 1 time “Ayatul Kursi:
  • 1 time:

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللَّهُمَّ لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلاَ مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلاَ يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ

Pronunciation : La-ilaha illallahu wahdahu la-shareeqa lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa hua ‘ala kulli shayin qadir. Allahumma la-ma’nia lima a’taita, wa la-matiya lima, mana’ta wa la-yanfa’u jal jaddi minqal jaddu.

Meaning: There is no deity other than Allah. He is single, He has no partners. His is the kingdom and to Him alone is all praise. He is powerful over all things. O Allah, no one can stop what You bestow. And no one has the power to give what you do not give. And the power and prestige of the ruler will not be of any use to you. Power comes from you.

1 time:

اللَّهمَّ أعنِّي على ذِكْرِكَ، وشُكْرِكَ، وحُسنِ عبادتِكَ

Pronunciation: Allahumma ainni ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatik.

Meaning: O Allah, help me remember You, give thanks, and worship You beautifully.

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ, َالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ, َاللهُ أَكْبَرُ

33 times: (Subha-Nallah) describing the holiness of Allah.
33 times: (Al Hamdulillah) All praise is due to Allah.
34 times: (Allahu Akbar) Allah is the greatest.

1 time: Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq and Surah Nas (These Surahs are Sunnah to recite 3 times in the morning and evening)

Zikr after Fajr

لا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ له، له المُلْكُ وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ وَهو علَى كُلِّ شيءٍ قَدِيرٌ، لا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إلَّا باللَّهِ، لا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ، وَلَا نَعْبُدُ إلَّا إيَّاهُ، له النِّعْمَةُ وَلَهُ الفَضْلُ، وَلَهُ الثَّنَاءُ الحَسَنُ، لا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ مُخْلِصِينَ له الدِّينَ ولو كَرِهَ الكَافِرُونَ

Pronunciation: La-ilaha illallahu wahdahu la-shareeqa lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa hua ‘ala kulli shayin qadir. La hawla wa la kuwwata illa billa-ha, la ila-ha illallahu, wa la na’budu illa-yya-hu, lahun ni’matu wa lahul fadlu wa lahus sana-ul hasan. La-ila-ha illalla-hu mukhalisina lahuddin. Wa lao karihal ka-firoon.

Meaning: There is no deity other than Allah. He is single, He has no partners. His is the kingdom and to Him alone is all praise. He is powerful over all things. There is no power, no power, except through Allah. There is no god but Allah and we worship none but Allah. His is the blessing, His is the mercy and His is the good praise. There is no god but Allah. We observe the Deen sincerely for Him, even though the disbelievers are displeased with it.
