How many sunnah prayers are there every day?

The prayers that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed in addition to the obligatory ones and encouraged the Companions to perform are Sunnah.

There are two types of Sunnah prayers. Sunnah Muakkadah and Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah. Muaqqada is those acts that Rasulullah (s.a.w) used to perform regularly in such a way that he never left them without reason. All the prayers that he sometimes recited and sometimes left out those prayers are Sunnah gair Muakkadah.

The Sunnah is divided into two for logical reasons. Because the common Muslims couldn’t understand the importance of each subject separately by reading all the hadiths. As a result, the common Muslims can easily understand how important the Messenger of Allah is, may God bless him and grant him peace, attached to any of the Nafal names.

How many sunnah Muakkadah prayers are there every day?

Sunnah Muaqqad prayer 12 rakat daily before and after Fard. They are two Rakats before Fajr. Four Rakats before Zuhr and two Rakats after. Two Rakat after Maghrib. Two rakats after Isha. Apart from this, it is also Sunnah to perform the Taraweeh prayer in the month of Ramadan.

Umm, Habiba Radiyallahu Anha said in a hadith about how many Sunnah Muaqqada prayers per day, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “A house will be built in Paradise for a person who prays 12 rak’ahs day and night.”

  • Four Rakats before Zuhr and two Rakats after.
  • Two Rakat after Maghrib.
  • Two rakats after Isha.
  • Two Rakat before Fajr.’ (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 6362)

Sunnah Muakkadah rules of prayer

The provision of the Sunnah Muakkadah prayer is that it is a sin to leave these Sunnahs regularly without any reason, but they can be left suddenly for special needs. A person who abandons such a Sunnah without reason will be reprimanded but will not be called a Fasiq or Kafir. (At-Taarifatul Fiqhiyah: 328, Al-Mujiz fi Usulil Fiqh: 439-40). Muakkadah in Sunnah is similar to Wajib.

In other words, just as one has to be accountable for what is obligatory, one has to be accountable for the Sunnah Muaqqadah. However, for leaving the wajib, there is sure punishment, and leaving the Sunnah Muakkadah can sometimes be forgiven. But can also get punishment.

How many Rakats outside of Muakkadah Sunnah prayers?

There are usually eight Rakats of Sunnah prayer in Makkah every day. They are the four Rakats before the obligatory Asr prayer and the four Rakats before the obligatory Isha prayer.

A person who performs the Muaqqadah prayer outside the Sunnah with pure intentions will certainly receive its reward after death. In this world, he will continue to be reflected by the Muakkadah prayers of the Sunnah.

As a result of his Sunnah prayers in this world, his interest and happiness in the obligatory prayers will increase, and his soul will become purer and purer. And hereafter, he will ascend to the highest place in paradise.

However, if a person skips the non-Sunnah Makkadah prayer without any reason, then he will not become a sinner because of that, but as a good Muslim, we should perform every Sunnah Makkadah prayer.

Virtues of other Sunnah prayers

Ishraq prayer: There is a hadith about Ishraq prayer, the person who offered Fajr prayer in the congregation. After that, he sat and was engrossed in the remembrance of Allah until the sun rose. Two rakat prayers were offered after sunrise. He received the reward of one Hajj and Umrah. – Jame Tirmidhi: 593.

Awabeen prayer: There are two different narrations about the Awabeen prayer after Maghrib. One is that if you pray six Rakats, including the Sunnah after Maghrib, it will be considered Awabeen.

Another narration mentions six Rak’ats after the Sunnah. Although we cannot act according to the second description, we can easily act according to the first description.

Regarding the Awabin prayer, the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever prays six rak’ahs after the Maghrib prayer will be rewarded for 12 years of Nafl worship.” – Jame Tirmidhi: 437.

Tahajjud prayer: Tahajjud prayer is very important. No old man became old, and no godly man became godly except Tahajjud. Getting up at the end of the night to perform Tahajjud is a very blessed act. This time is very blessed.

It is narrated in Hadith Sharif that Allah Ta’ala first descended to heaven at this time. He called the servants and said, ‘Who are you seeking forgiveness? I will forgive the sins. Who are you, seeking sustenance, I will bestow sustenance. Who are you? I will free you from danger.

Benefits of Sunnah Prayer Ishraq

The word Ishrak means to be enlightened. As the world lights up after the sun rises, the prayer mentioned in the hadith at this time is called Salatul Ishraq by the scholars of Muhaddisin.

Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not pray this prayer as soon as the sun rose, but he prayed it after a while. There are several hadiths describing the virtues of this nafl prayer.

  • Anas Ibn Malek Radiyallahu Anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “Whoever, after offering the Fajr prayer in congregation, sits there till the sun rises and remembers Allah.” Then pray two Rakats. For him, there is a reward equal to a complete Hajj and Umrah.’ (Tirmidhi, Mishkat)
  • Abu Umamah Radiyallahu Anhu narrates Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, After one (continuous) prayer, another prayer; In the midst of which no sin is committed, it is written Illiyun (in high status).’ (Abu Dawud)
