Tahajjud Dua is a very effective time of acceptance. Allah Almighty accepts the prayers of the last night more than anything. Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Qur’an about the inhabitants of Paradise, “They ask for forgiveness in the last night.” (Surah Zariat: 18)

In a hadith, Ubadah Ibn Samit (R.A.) said, The Prophet (S.A.W.) said, “Whoever wakes up at night and recites the following dua (or any other dua) and then says, ‘O Allah, forgive me,’ his supplication is accepted by Allah.” After performing ablution (Prayer), his Prayer is accepted. (Sahih Bukhari: 1154)

Conditions of acceptance of Dua in Tahajjud

There are certain conditions for dua acceptance in Tahajjud. It is not the case that prayers will be accepted only by performing Tahajjud prayers.

  • Halal Earnings: Halal Earnings: One of the conditions for dua acceptance is halal earnings. If haram earnings or even a tiny amount of haram earnings in one’s food, it breaks the condition of acceptance of dua.
  • Avoidance of Haram: The condition of acceptance of dua with halal earnings is to avoid all types of haram. If a dua is prayed while indulging in a sin (like love), it is less likely to be accepted.

Every day, he calculates what sins he has committed today. Close the accounts of these sins; only then will the condition of acceptance of prayers be fulfilled. Abstaining from sinful acts is more important than performing Tahajjud prayers.

Of the two people who pray all the obligatory prayers, including the Tahajjud prayers, observe the obligatory fasts, do dhikr all day but also commit sins. The other person who only prays the obligatory prayers and follows the mandatory commands but does not commit any sins, Allah loves the person.

Earn halal and lead a halal life. Insha Allah, daily Tahajjud prayers will not be necessary for dua to be accepted. Read when you have time so that it will be enough.

Why Last Night Dua is special

Dua in Tahajjud prayer for Allah’s mercy is a unique worship. It is one of the means to attain the pleasure of Almighty Allah. The righteous and good servants of the past were aware of Tahajjud.

Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘You should be accustomed to Tahajjud prayers. Because it is the habit of your previous good servants; It is a deed that brings you closer to your Lord, removes sins, and prevents you from committing sins.’ (Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzaimah, Hakeem, Sahih Targhib: 618)

The Prayer performed after waking up in the last part of the night is called the Tahajjud prayer. Tahajjud is the best Prayer after five daily prayers.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘The best fast after Ramadan is the fast of Allah’s month of Muharram. And the best Prayer after the obligatory Prayer is the night (Tahajjud) prayer.’ (Muslim: 1163)

Allah Ta’ala told the Prophet, ‘And Tahajjud will be recited some parts of the night. This is your additional responsibility. Soon, your Lord will establish you in a place of praise.’ (Surah Bani Israel: 79)

Hadith about Dua in Tahajjud

Rasulullah (s.a.w) said, May Allah have mercy on the servant who gets up to pray at night and wakes up his wife, who also prays. If she (the wife) does not want to rise under the stress of sleep, he sprinkles water on her face (in love).

May Allah have mercy on the woman who gets up at night and prays and wakes up her husband, and he also prays. If she doesn’t want to wake up, he wakes her up by (lovingly) sprinkling water on her face. (Abu Dawud: 1450)

The virtue of Tahajjud is so great that no one is completely deprived of sleep, so the Prophet (PBUH) used to encourage praying at least two Rakats before going to sleep.

It is mentioned in the Hadith Sharif, “Wake up at night is a difficult and heavy thing, so when you recite the Witr (before going to bed), pray two rak’ahs (nafl). Please get up later in the last night, otherwise these two rak’ahs will be a means of attaining the virtue of Qiyamul Lail.’

last word

Essentially, nafal Prayer is like worship, but supplication is also a separate form of worship. Tahajjud is the best of Nafal prayers, and last night’s Prayer was effective. Both are valuable practices. At that time, the dua will likely be accepted.

There are many narrations in the Qur’an and Hadith about prayers and supplications on the last night. So we will try to do Tahajjud praying, Dua Zikir-Azkar on the previous night. Every act is dignified. If one is omitted, the other worship does not become unimportant.

Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said, “Allah Ta’ala descends to the lower sky in the last third of every night and says, ‘Who will call me?’ I will answer his call. Who wants something from me? I will donate to him. And who will apologize to me? I will forgive him.’ (Bukhari, Muslim, Meshkat: 1223)

F.A.Q.s

Tahajjud is the only condition for the acceptance of dua?

No, performing Tahajjud is not a condition for acceptance of dua. Instead, if you call upon Allah with sincerity and modesty, your supplications will be accepted in sha Allah.

However, during Tahajjud, prayers are more accepted because, at this time, Allah Himself first descends to the sky to get the servant’s prayers.

If Tahajjud is performed regularly, that person’s grave will be illuminated and 70 cubits wide. Also, in this world, he will gain nearness to Allah. Tahajjud prayers should be given the most importance after the obligatory prayers.

Tahajjud Prayer can be performed from after Isha to 15 minutes before Fard. However, since Tahajjud means “waking up from sleep”, this Prayer should be performed after sleeping and getting up in the middle of the night. Reciting the name while sleeping will be repeated, but it is improper.

Dua will be accepted without intention?

No, dua without intention will not be accepted. Prayer is the great tool of the believer. The impossible can be made possible by Prayer. Allah does not reject any prayer of a servant; Allah accepts all prayers.

But Allah knows better than us when it will be better to accept. So don’t be disappointed and wait patiently. But if a servant wants something terrible for him, Allah will give him something better than that.

Is there any specific manner of dua during Tahajjud?

There is no particular etiquette for dua during Tahajjud. But generally, facing the Qiblah (the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca), raising the hands while supplicating, and dua should be done humbly and with concentration.

Before making dua, it is better to recite the praise of Allah Ta’ala and Durood Sharif on Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam because this is the rule of making dua for the beloved servants of Allah Ta’ala.

Can I make dua in my language during Tahajjud?

Yes, you can make dua in any language during Tahajjud. Allah understands all languages. The sincerity of the supplicant is most important.
